A neighbourhood bar on Wa Lane, Sheung Wan

FALCO is a neighbourhood bar and restaurant hidden on Wa Lane, a pedestrian lane in Sheung Wan between Hollywood Road and Tai Ping Shan.

The food takes its flavours from the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and its shape from the way people eat around that sea — tapas, cicchetti, mezze. Small plates, in the middle of the table, eaten with a drink in hand.

Order a drink, get some food, order more as you go.

Wine by the glass, cocktails, draught beer and coffee. Lunch through the week, brunch on Saturday and Sunday, happy hour daily from three. Eighteen seats, so it fills up.

Labneh, pickles, salsas, the syrups behind the bar — all made in house. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours, cooked from scratch in a small Sheung Wan kitchen.

Same flavours all day, two ways of eating them. Café by day: coffee and a plate of your own. Bar by night: small plates built for the middle of the table.

A variety of Middle Eastern dishes. Labneh topped with nuts & honey, grilled meat, a fresh salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions, and pan-fried gnocci topped with herbs. There is also a glass of vermouth-soda with a dried grapefruit and ice.
